Greetings to those who we used to be,
Sitting in this Library where it is possible to see
The secrets of our precious world assembled here,
And it’s beauty and interest that we hold so dear.
It’s dark side too, the evils of mankind,
Civilization’s failures, chronicled and underlined.

We regularly share this space with the scholars of this School.
We understand it’s importance, a precious learning tool.
Our purpose is the same,
A never-ending game,
It is to draw from what we have learnt from our scholastic years
And to use this knowledge to conquer our innermost fears.

We are, dear pupils, what you may yet become,
Playing a game we believe is best, bar none.
In this game we learn to work with our partners together,
And how to moderate our temper when at the end of our tether.
We are challenged to remember every detail of play;
It needs but one wandering thought to lead us astray.

But our purpose is not just to develop the mind;
There is much more to this game for you to find.
There’s the intent to develop one’s innate character
And to do so in ways that really matter.
I am thinking about learning to win with modesty and grace,
And taking on the chin the failures you will inevitably face.

So when, fellow students, you are ready to dip your toes in our pool,
Come and discover the source of our joy – it’s a game that’s real cool!
