This is the end of the road my friends.
Yes, this is it for another year.
No time left to make amends,
though much remains to improve I fear.
Peter’s sylvan glades linger in my mind.
Cheating disability with his rolling gait
and symbolising resolute determination unconfined.
No, you wouldn’t want to miss this date.
Then over to Richard at Upton B.
We feed upon his expertise.
May I suggest that you will never see
hoops flawlessly run with such consummate ease.
But I ponder anew, recalling the elan of James J
and trying to master the subtlety of his ubiquitous slope.
But as we quaff a bottle of two away
competitive intent converts to sodden hope.
I play at George S because the shop is there
and also to learn how to properly take aim.
George fixes his shot with considerable care
and we would all play better if we did the same.
The Shepherd duo offer us the perfect setting;
such a shame Nick’s game is over before I run my first hoop.
But of course we appreciate the hospitality that we are getting
despite our failures landing us well in the soup.
And then of course finally, there’s Andrew at Low Cop.
Kind and skilled host and conducting our sessions;
telling us where to go, when to start and when to stop,
and demonstrating the very best of reasons...
For us to thank Andrew and all our other hosts for another wonderful year.
